Christmas Lights 2001 30th November

This year Madeley Parish will hold its annual Christmas Lights Ceremony on Friday 30th November 2001.

Father & Mother Christmas have found time in their busy schedule to pay us a call and would like to invite everyone; young and old, to join them for a grand parade up Madeley High Street.

Timetable

  • 5.30pm Parade will depart from Legges Way car park.
  • 5.45pm Father & Mother Christmas arrive in Madeley Centre.
  • 6.00pm Madeley Lights “Switch On” by local historian Jack Smart.

Father & Mother Christmas will meet with children in their grotto at Madeley Library

There will be Carol Singing with the Community Choir and the Abraham Darby Band in Madeley centre along with Stalls, Activities, Blists Hill Victorian fairground, attractions and clowns

It is hoped to round off the evening with a firework display which will be visible from Russell Square at around 7.00 pm.

From 6.00 pm there will be local musical entertainment at Jubilee House

Madeley Parish Council would like to thank everyone for their support with these Christmas celebrations, with particular thanks to Mr Lyon of the Hobby Shop, Park Street, Madeley for his generosity.

The Madeley Living History Project has arrived!

The project’s first exhibition, a collection of ‘Christmas Stories’, will be on display in Jubilee House from 30th November 2001 (please check times with Jubilee House reception – 278001). The exhibition will then be displayed at venues around the Parish.

Compare your Christmas experience with those of Elsie and Donald.

Why not get involved? Perhaps you have organised a family reunion or are expecting a new addition to the family this Christmas? Take a photo and donate it to the project and you could become part of the documented history of the Parish. If you would like the ‘Christmas Stories’ exhibition to visit your group or school, please contact Fay Bailey on 01952 680278 for further details.
