New Trading Standards Initiative

Telford & Wrekin Trading Standards have announced the opening of their new Leaflet Information Line: 202930
This is a new initiative launched to provide Telford & Wrekin consumers with the skills, knowledge and information they need to deal with the most common consumer problems. The line will provide access to accurate, comprehensive and up to date information to allow consumers to be better informed about their rights and to empower them to help themselves. Callers to the line will be able to access information and self help packs including standard letters.

Telford & Wrekin consumers will soon be able to access the line on the Trading Standards new web page found on the council’s internet site ‘Telford Info City’ on www.telford.gov.uk.

PC DAVE Warns …..

We have received reports of concerns from various energy companies attempting to persuade householders to change to alternative energy providers. So, DON’T open your door to anyone without first putting on the door chain.

ASK for their identity card, if they don’t have one - DON’T open the door.

DON’T sign any paperwork that they give you unless you want to change your energy company.

DON’T feel pressurized by the canvassers. If you do, ask them to leave - it’s your choice.

ALSO, CYCLISTS BEWARE!
If you contravene the following regulations you’ll get a £30 fine!
So DON’T ...

  • Ignore traffic signs (this means cycling down Madeley High Street and pavements – it’s one way!)
  • Cycle without lights when dark
  • Cycle if reflectors are not working
  • Carry more than one person on your cycle
  • Cycle on any footpath
