Local Education
a success story...
Ive been a housewife and mother for 7 years and I got to the stage where I was feeling educationally inept. My little boy brought a leaflet home from school about a course available working with children at Woodside Community Centre. The course was free and because I work part time at a school I thought it would be a good idea to have a go and perhaps further my career in childcare. I learned about working in a classroom and got to know the teachers better, how schools operate and more about the national curriculum. It gave me a better understanding and the opportunity of doing a classroom assistants course. The course was really good and I enjoyed myself. It gave me something else to do other than being at home all day. I made new friends and the tutor was very good putting you at ease. Working in a relaxed atmosphere meant it was not at all like being at school. It has boosted my confidence. I used to think that I could only do housework. I now wish to do an Open University course that would give me a diploma as a Teaching Assistant.
