The British Cuisine Over 50’s Club

Do you think British cooking is under-rated? Have you any of your grandmother’s or mother’s recipes that you would like to share or cook again with other people? Or do you just want to socialise with like-minded people and enjoy a chat over a cup of coffee. If the answer is yes, the British Cuisine Over 50’s Club could be the answer for you.

The group was formed, following a Help The Aged Millennium Award, by Jay and Marla Ali-Khan. Jay is a very experienced chef who has worked all over the world in some of the best hotels and for top companies like Marks and Spencers. He now wants to work with local people to revive traditional British cuisine. “I believe that the British cuisine is extremely under-rated. There is a lot of knowledge out there, which will get lost if we don’t do something about it. I want to revive those meals, cook them and even, perhaps, get them printed”.

The group is presently meeting once a fortnight at 11am at the Parkside Centre, Holyhead Road, Ketley and both Marla and Jay would love to see new members. Everything is free and the atmosphere is welcoming and friendly.

Want to find our more? Telephone Jay or Marla on 01952 501363.

Grandparents' Action Group

Are you a grandparent? Do you know you have no automatic right in law for contact with grandchildren? Grandparents Action Group (GAG) is a local help and support group for grandparents experiencing problems of contact with their grandchildren. This is a nationwide problem and there are people all over the country in this situation. As well as supporting local grandparents we are in touch with other grandparents across country. The main purpose of the group as well as providing advice and support is with the backing of David Wright MP to raise awareness of the need for better legislation with rights for grandparents. This would benefit children and families who are denied contact. We all have to work together to make the future of our children better and grandparents are a valuable asset to achieve this. No parent should be able to deny their child’s / children’s rights to their fathers’ or mothers’ families.

If anyone is interested in contacting or joining our group ring one of the following numbers 01952 582621 or 593805. There is an answer service for messages and any left will be answered. It is in the interest of the future of our children for legislation to change for grandparents and to put back values that are the role of grandparents which help provide for the sake of the family children need to know the roots of their identity which grandparents can provide through family history. Any grandparents or interested parties who wish to join and support the group would be welcome,
