Community Parents Project

I’ve been a parent for several years
I’ve experienced the joys – plus the heartbreak and tears.
Now I’d like to join the Community Parents
Who support local parents who’d like visits from others?

I’ll be a guest into their homes
Reminding them they’re not alone
A partner by their side I’ll be
Whilst not letting them rely on me.

So I’ll not do the shopping
Or look after the baby,
But I’ll reach out my hand
As another parent who is a friend.

We’ll share together the joys and pain
Of coping with the parenting game.
Simple cartoons are the tools of my trade;
Within the confines suggestions will be made.

Whatever she tells me is spoken in trust,
To keep things in confidence is an absolute must.
So I’ll not write things down of a personal kind,
anything secret is kept in my mind.

I’ll help each parent to do their best
But will not put them to the test.
A hand is offered as a friend,
But never money shall I lend.

And if I see that a child is unwell
I’ll ask the parent to seek a professional help.
And if a child is being harmed further help must be sought
So I’ll contact the co-ordinator for help and support.

So this is my pledge, and it is understood
That being a parent is a very special job in this neighbourhood.
(POEM USED BY COMMUNITY MUMS)

Could you do the above for 1 hour once a month (or so) age no barrier – you must have been a parent and experienced the joy and the pain. If you could be a volunteer and want to know more information.
I would be delighted to hear from you.

Madeley Public Toilets

As the toilets have now been open a while, we would like to urge visitors to report any misuse or vandalism as soon as possible to the Parish Council at Jubilee House.

Ironbridge Shuttle Bus

The rural transport partnerships in Telford & Wrekin and Bridgnorth have joined forces as part of a two-year pilot project, which is being funded by the Countryside Agency.

A key part of the scheme is a new “shuttle bus” service operating on weekends and bank holidays throughout the year to the Borough’s main tourist attractions. The aim is to encourage people to leave their cars at home and ease congestion on the borough’s roads, especially in the main tourist areas where congestion can become a problem both for tourists and for residents.

The shuttle bus service was launched on 12 April and operates between 09.20 and 18.21 hrs stopping at key locations in the area. Three buses are in operation serving Telford Central Railway Station, Madeley Bus Station and the main museum sites at Coalbrookdale, The Gorge, Blist’s Hill, Coalport, Jackfield and Broseley, together with The Ironbridge, Benthall Hall, Buildwas Abbey and the historic market town of Much Wenlock.

More information and timetables are available from Jubilee House, CHEC and Madeley Library.
