SOUTH TELFORD WAY

A new long distance walk route has been waymarked and signposted covering 20km through South Telford.
This connects the partner Parishes - Hollinswood & Randlay, Madeley, Stirchley & Brookside, and The Gorge - and passes through countryside and woodlands managed by Severn Gorge Countryside Trust.

This is a loop walk with information panels at its Northern (Telford Town Park) and Southern (Ironbridge) points. It also links with many local footpaths which are detailed in the ‘Routes around…’ leaflets available from the South Telford Rights of Way Project and the partner Parish Councils.

Why not enjoy the discovery of beautiful, historic South Telford?

THE TELFORD TRAIL

Could you do it?

A charity walk for individuals, groups, businesses along the South Telford Way.

With support from Borough of Telford & Wrekin and Cap/Gemini, the South Telford Rights of Way Project is developing this charity event which can be used to raise money via sponsorship for any charity you choose.

Zara’s Trek

On 8 October 2004 I am leaving the comforts of my home behind to trek through the wilderness of the Torres del Paine National Park in Patagonia-Chile, in aid of Cancer Research UK for ten days. I have committed myself to this challenge (which is much tougher than I first thought) and it comes in three parts. First I have to raise £3,500 for Cancer Research UK, secondly I have to get fit through a tough training programme and thirdly to do the challenge itself (exhausting!).

I am taking this challenge because I am aware that there is a one in three chance of contracting some form of cancer at some stage in my lifetime, that fact scares me and this is my chance to do something about it.

The money raised by this trek will be put towards research into finding treatments to cure cancer faster, get treatments to patients faster and to train more cancer scientists, doctors and nurses. Do you know that every year 120,000 people lose their lives in this country to cancer?

If you can help me with my fundraising it would be greatly appreciated. I am personally paying for the flights myself (around £700). I understand that we cannot give to every charity we are asked by, but considering that the majority of us have been affected by a relative or close friend being diagnosed with some form of cancer, there’s definitely a worthwhile end to my challenge and every bit counts.
