Madeley Centre - A New Beginning

What’s happening... Demolition of much of the existing centre and the construction of a new Tesco supermarket and a new High Street. The Tesco store will be 46,535sq.ft – a medium sized store with parking for 330 cars. In addition 15 new retail units will be built to replace the existing shops. Eighteen new residential units will be built, located on 2 floors above a row of the new shops. The new link road will be approx. 200 metres long between the top of High Street and Park Avenue; this will be two-way for all traffic and will be designed to reduce traffic speed.
David Wright
MP“We are looking at all our district centres to see what changes can be implemented to encourage regeneration and future prosperity. I am looking forward to working closely with the council to help bring new investment to all our communities.”

Cllr Janice Jones
“Some people were beginning to think it would never happen, but this application confirms that it will now go ahead.
Madeley will become a hive of activity for south Telford with a new superstore and other outlets in new premises offering the services the community needs.”

Cllr Gill Green
“Another chapter in Madeley`s long history begins to unfold as it looks set once more to become a viable, sustainable and respected shopping alternative for the communities of South Telford and beyond.”

The proposed plans are on display in Jubilee House, 74 High Street, Madeley. Public Consultation ends 1st September. Details about how you can have your say are at Jubilee House.
