Spring time-piece for 2007

Restoration of the Tower Clock at St. Michael’s Church, Madeley

Madeley Parish Council has offered a grant of some £3,330 to cover the cost of the restoration and repair of the Tower Clock at St. Michael’s Church. The work will be carried out by Smiths of Derby, who will refurbish the clock face, with the Roman numerals and hands in double gold leaf. The internal clock mechanism will also be replaced with an automatic restarting facility in the event of power failure.

The electric mechanism of the clock was originally installed in 1962 replacing a mechanical one. We hope that this present restoration will enable us to tell the time for at least another 45 years. The work will be carried out in late spring. We are very grateful to Madeley Parish Council for their interest and support for this project.
