The purchase of alcohol for persons under the age of 18
Sergeant Louis Hylton from your Local Policing Team says:
“The problem of youngsters getting hold of alcohol to drink is not just simply shop keepers selling to under 18s, but also adults buying alcohol which they then pass onto kids that they know or believe are under age. This is an offence that can lead not only to an on the spot fine of £80 but also possibly to being charged and going to court. It is an offence to buy alcohol for kids that you know or suspect are under age and if you are caught doing this you could end up with a hefty fine and a court conviction.”
Sergeant Hylton would like to remind readers that your Local Police Team hold regular Partners And Communities Together (PACT) meetings at Jubilee House. PACT meetings give you, the community, the opportunity to tell us about quality of life matters that affect you and with our local partners we try and address these points. The next meeting is on Tuesday 20th May.

HOMEfix
Telford & Wrekin Council’s handyperson service HOMEfix is proving to be a big hit, and with funding from Supporting People secured for another two years, it can continue its good work.
The service, which began in July 2006, has already helped over 500 people by carrying out hundreds of jobs around the home, like fixing a dripping tap, putting up a curtain rail or fitting a letterbasket.
HOMEfix is run by the council’s Home Improvement Agency and is for residents aged over 60. Customers pay only £15 an hour for the first hour and £5 per hour thereafter, for a maximum of four hours. The main aim of the service is to get jobs done for people who can’t do them themselves.
