PC LambertPC Lambert Says . . .

Please be aware of leaving any items in your cars when unoccupied. We have had several thefts of stereos, sat-navs and lap tops recently, and not just in the day but also overnight from vehicles parked in the local area. If you can take off the stereo front, remove the sat-nav and mounting from the windscreen – do so and take it to your house. Too many people just put the front cover into the glove box. Leave the front of the glove-box down so that thieves can see it is empty of any valuables.

With the increasing price of fuel, more people are stealing it from parked vehicles or garage forecourts. Red diesel is only used in plant machinery and agricultural machines, and if it is found in your vehicle customs will seize the vehicle as VAT is not paid on this type of fuel. Buy a lock for the fuel cap and leave your car where you can easily see it when parked or put up security cameras or PIR lights. Thieves are cutting petrol lines to the engine and then collecting the fuel, this can be very dangerous for the car owner as fuel will be spilled over the ground, check your car before getting into it.

With the current price of metal thieves are cutting away catalytic converters from exhaust systems with mobile hand grinders and selling the parts for scrap. We have had several thefts of this type in the Madeley area recently.

The next dates for the PACT meetings held at Jubilee House are 1 July, 12 August, 23 September, 4 November and 16 December 2008 all Tuesdays at 7pm.

Madeley Active Families Day '08

About 1,000 mainly Madeley residents turned up to Madeley Court Sports Centre for this truly fun families day. There were over 30 sports and activities to choose, ranging from Tag Rugby to a Countryside Walk and all free of charge.

This year's top attraction was the Army Assault Course and Climbing Wall with new activities like line dancing and tennis all proving popular.
