SMILE on Sutton Hill

Groundwork West Midlands started a new programme for young people aged 10+ living in Sutton Hill in July 2010. The scheme is funded by Madeley Parish Council and a £5,000 donation from Tesco Community Charity and involves the young people in positive volunteering activities within the local area. As a reward for volunteering the young people are invited on a trip.

Over the past few months the young people have helped out at the Madeley Community Orchard, held a charity car wash, made and delivered Christmas hampers to elderly residents on the estate and performed some maintenance work on the community willow den in Madeley Park.

The first reward activity held in September was a canoeing trip down the River Severn and at the end of January there was an outdoor Laser Tag adventure. During the next series of events the young people will be getting involved in the Parish Spring Clean Programme.

Smile on Sutton Hill 2 will then lead into a fun event in spring open to the whole community and a trip to Alton Towers for the volunteers.

If you would like to get involved in any of the Smile on Sutton Hill 2 activities contact Jen on 0121 530 5500.
